The building in which the B&B “La Buccetta” is located fortunately escaped unscathed from the heavy bombardment that took place on 28 March 1944, in which 48 people lost their lives, when the district of Porto San Pancrazio was razed to the ground in an attempt by the Anglo-Americans to hit the nearby railway station of Porta Vescovo, an important freight marshalling yard and site of railway factories.
The capital dedicated to the “Sacred Heart of Jesus”, which was erected on 13 June 1947 along the outer fence of the house, probably as a sign of gratitude for the escaped destruction.
In 2006, the building underwent major renovation works, respected the original external appearance of the building and preserved the interior.
